These kits are designed on templates in Adobe Illustrator. Each piece can be cut and installed separately. This can be a challenge for several reasons.
First, there are hundreds of pieces depending on the model. I have to create a design that is continuous but then crop that design to each and every piece.
Then, I have to move these pieces around in Adobe llustrator so they can fit on a sheet of vinyl to be printed on. Also, there needs to be bleed and cutmarks which have to be moved at the same time. Not as easy as it looks!
I developed this process all by myself and it was hard to figure out how to apply the design to each piece while being able to go back and make revisions without having to edit each individually. Also I had to upgrade my computer for designs this large. The scale isn't normally the issue but having the same complex design copied hundreds of times in one document can get laggy. Plus this is an image the size of a SUV shown here.
